Philips Wins Broad Range of Awards at LightFair 2007

Awards recognize Philips' efforts in the areas of technology, sustainability, and security
Somerset, New Jersey - Philips (PHG) proudly announces its receipt of numerous lighting awards at the 2007 LightFair International Trade Show & Conference in New York City on May 6-10th. Recognizing Philips' wide variety of new product innovations from across its broad range of North American lighting businesses, the following awards were presented to Philips during LightFair's 2007 Innovation Awards ceremony on May 8th:

• Philips Lighting's revolutionary ALTO II™ low-mercury T8 fluorescent lamp technology received both LightFair's "Best of Category: Conventional Lamps" Award as well as the show's prestigious "Technical Excellence" Award (co-presented to Philips Lumileds' LUXEON Rebel line as well). Representing a new standard in green lighting, Philips Lighting's T8 linear fluorescent lamps with ALTO II technology contain a low mercury content of only 1.7 mg - an unprecedented 50% reduction below Philips Lighting's previous industry-low levels of 3.5 mg.
  
• Philips Lumileds Lighting Company's LUXEON® Rebel line of high power LEDs also received the prestigious 2007 "Technical Excellence" Award from LightFair and was the winner of the "Best of Category: Specialty Lamps" Award. With a footprint area that is 75% smaller than other surface mount power LEDs, superior efficacy levels and color quality, and availability in a full range of colors and white CCTs, Lumileds' LUXEON Rebel enables entirely new approaches to solid-state lighting design. Fully acquired by Philips in 2006, Philips Lumileds pioneered power LED technology and is the world's leading provider of power LEDs for a broad range of everyday lighting applications.
  
• The Bodine Company's ARC Keeper® Arctic 175 HID backup ballast received LightFair's highly coveted 2007 award for "Most Innovative Product of the Year." Bodine's ARC Keeper line of backup ballasts helps eliminate arc loss in metal halide systems, enabling continuous operation of lamps through minor power disturbances or until back-up generators begin providing power. The Arctic 175 model catches and maintains the arc of one 100-175 Watt metal halide pulse start lamp at ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to 55°C, preventing lamp extinction during power line disruptions. Founded in 1962 and acquired by Philips in 2006, Bodine leads the industry in developing innovative, award-winning technologies that solve emergency and specialty lighting problems.
